The VESSEL ... and The Loss Of Your Photography Copyright?
I might be in disagreement with most photographers here lol. You see when the @thevesselnyc first opened, they put a caveat out there that any shared photo tagged with @thevesselnyc to get exposure gave them rights to share and use the photo.
Most photographers believe they automatically own the rights to their photos...and they do. They just may not own the rights to what's IN the photo...what the photo is OF and thus you may own the copyright of your photo but NOT the right to sell it or even share it
You see #thevessel is unique. Its different. Its art. When you photograph it, and that photograph sells .....whose art is actually selling??? Is it the photographer's art or the architect's?
Alot depends on the individual photo ....and what else is in the photo.
Maybe Kim Kardashian is standing in front of the Vessel and the purchaser is publishing a book on Kim Kardashian posing around NYC....in that case Kardashian is what makes the photo marketable. What if no Kardashian but a gorgeous sunset and its going in a book of cool sunset photos? The sunset makes it marketable
In the end, every photo involves a measure of different percentages that makes a photo marketable.....its rarely 100% solely the photographers.
