The Ringling Manor has a complicated history. I have included screenshots of its National Register of Historic Places application to learn its history.
The property consists of several buildings, most notably is the main mansion which is most recently a monestary.
Across the street is a small building that housed tigers.
The elephant pen now currently sits on @berkshirevalley golf course (photo cred @thebirdiebuddha)
There is also the long NJ legend story of a place called Midgetville. ....While the one in Totowa was torn down and was a myth..... this one in Jefferson had a little more truth to it.
Behind the mansion (what is now a private lake community Lake Swannanoa) were a bunch of small buildings for members of the circus to stay in .....those small buildings have either been replaced or modified into larger year round homes. I dont believe they were small in height (for midgets) but were small in size (like sheds) ....i included a photo of how one might have been adapted into a larger home.
It is once again as of June on the market and we hope the Ringling family can make this into a museum of the north as the one in the south @theringling in Sarasota is thriving
